Cool Cities a la Matt Lauer

Cool city rankings abound. Most maximize generalities about a location. Or they focus on very specific details. But they matter in the sense that mass media – and people –
pay attention. So, how do we fare? Sometimes great … occasionally awful … most often not at all. So that’s helpful, right? Below are some rankings to consider. Criteria are interesting. Comparative cities are interesting. But, to my point of view, what matters is what we think. We can chase rankings or we can create reality. What we see happening is the real judge of our progress. By the time the ratings folks catch on … we’ll be so cool the rest of the world won’t know what happened :)
