Preservation + Creation

Parramore. It's probably the most studied part of our City with every mayoral administration since the dawn of time committing to fix, revitalize, elevate, save and generally transform the historically black neighborhood.

Many creative communities spring from economically challenged areas of a City - but Parramore isn't just some abandoned industrial district. People live there. Some for generations. We're talking moms and kids and churches and small businesses and, yes, poverty and crime too. So there is the dual challenge of bringing all that is new and shiny and smart to downtown while still preserving and celebrating and elevating that which has been here forever. Yes, that's downtown's challenge in general. But it will be even more important under the spotlight of all that the creative village has to offer. No easy task, my friends.

This is a great idea. I can't wait until it happens.
